The Endocannabinoid System
Everyone has an Endocannabinoid System made up of CB1 and CB2 receptors that are spread throughout the body. CB1 receptors are primarily found in the brain, while CB2 receptors are found in the rest of the body. Different phytocannabinoids react differently to these receptors. For example, THC (CBD’s intoxicating relative) binds to CB1 receptors, which produces the “high” that is associated with smoking pot, while the CBD phytocannabinoid modifies the receptors ability to bind to cannabinoids and increases the body’s natural levels of endocannabinoids, which balances many of your bodily functions.
Your endocannabinoid system regulates many bodily functions such as: mood, pain, immunity, appetite, sleep, etc. When you take phytocannabinoids, you’re helping your body by stimulating your body’s natural cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) to function and communicate at higher levels to combat the conditions keeping you from your natural homeostasis.
The Endocannabinoid System is all about keeping these processes in balance and maintaining homeostasis throughout your body. By taking your hemp extract, you are offering your body a natural solution for balance and wellness. Taking hemp products as needed tends to not render the same desired results as having a daily regimen that you stick to. If you are striving for overall wellness, it’s best if you create a routine that you stick to the majority of the time. After all, you don’t get in shape from one workout, and chances are, you won’t feel better from one serving of hemp extract!
We always recommend to start low and slow when incorporating hemp products into your daily wellness routine. What works for you might not work for your friend or family member and vice versa. Always do your best to listen to your body and remain cognizant of how you’re feeling. This way you can consciously make the decision to increase your serving size or make it smaller.
The best part about how hemp extract works is that it was designed for your body. Your body came primed and ready to interact with phytocannabinoids to give you greater control of your health and wellness.
